| Comments | A line of hexaploid winter triticale Presto with cytogenetically engineered chromosomes 1A and 1R. Chromosome 1R is the translocation Valdy, with a intercalary segment of 1DL 1A and 1R. Chromosome 1R is the translocation Valdy, with a intercalary segment of 1DL on the long arm and translocaton QR4 on the short arm. The 1DL segment introduces wheat locus Glu-D1 and removes rye locus Sec-3; WR4 introduces wheat loci Glu-D1 and Glu-D3; rye locus Sec-1 remains. Chromosome 1A has in its long arm an intercalary insert from chromosome 1DL that carries locus Glu-D1 and replaces Glu-A1. This line has four doses of Glu-D1 (on 1A and 1R) which in both cases encodes high molecular weight glutenin subunits 5+10. The translocations significantly improves breadmaking quality of triticale [2965]. |
